Rain continued pouring over Chandigarh as Ruhanika's black bike finally entered the parking area of Rathore Medicos Co..
The hospital building stood tall beneath the grey clouds, glowing with busy morning chaos. Doctors were rushing , Stretchers were moving and Phones ringing.
And through all of it— Ruhanika Rohilla arrived like a storm. She parked the bike smoothly before removing her helmet.
Her loosely braided hair had half opened because of the wind, strands sticking softly against her cheeks from the rain.
"Arey Dr. Ruhanika!" the old guard uncle near the gate smiled warmly
"Ram Ram uncle"
"Phir bike le aayi aap?" he shook his head dramatically "Barish dekh rahe ho?"
Ruhanika laughed while removing her gloves "Adventure zaruri hai life mein"
"Ek din aap adventure karte karte hume heart attack de doge " he said slightly laughing
"Heart attack ho gaya toh free treatment meri taraf se " Ruhanika said pointing her helmet towards him
The old man chuckled loudly this time "Bas isi baat pe maaf kiya"
She saluted him playfully before walking inside the hospital lobby.
The moment she entered— cold air conditioning hit her face. And unfortunately— so did the memory of light brown eyes and dimple between the rain
"CHI"
Immediately she took out her phone and dialed someone " Jaldi mere wing mai aa.."
"Mar gayi kya?" The voice came from the phone
"Tanne maar ke marugi...aaja"( tuje maar kr marugi ) Ruhanika said and declined the call
Ten minutes later—a girl entered the cardiology wing looking personally victimized by life.
Prachi Singh.
Ruhanika's childhood bestfriend entered wearing Crop kurta , Blue jeans. Scarf wrapped carelessly around her neck. Messy bun and Coffee in her hand. She stopped in front of Ruhanika dramatically.
"Kya hua?"
Ruhanika grabbed her arm instantly "Bro!!! My mind is fked up trust me "
Prachi blinked slowly"...tera hove kad koni ?" ( tera hota kab nhi ? )
"Or upar se ye barish!" Ruhanika said reming the damp hair strands from her face
"Barish ne kya bigaada tera?"
"Everything"
Prachi stared at her suspiciously while both started walking through the long hospital corridor "Nahi seriously Kya hua?"
Ruhanika looked straight ahead dramatically "Ek aadmi mila "
Prachi gasped loudly "HAWWWW"
"HAWWW...kya hawww?" Ruhanika said in the same tone
" What's the issue ? "
" EYESSSS!! "
Prachi immediately stopped walking "Oh no "
Ruhanika pointed aggressively "EXACTLY."
They resumed walking again while Prachi sipped her coffee "Tune mujhe tere cabin tak jaane ke liye dusre department se dusre wing mein bulaya?"
Ruhanika turned toward her calmly "Exactly Prachi Singh."
Prachi stared at her in betrayal "Besharam aurat"
Ruhanika nodded proudly.
And honestly— Prachi should've expected this. Because Prachi Singh had been dealing with Ruhanika's chaos since school days. But she is Architect by profession and Drama detector by experience.
She worked inside Rathore Medicos Co. as the lead architect and interior designer in the maintenance department, handling everything from VIP cabins to operation theatre aesthetics.
She is Smart Sarcastic and Dangerously observant. And unfortunately for her—
also Ruhanika's emotional dustbin.
The cardiology floor of Rathore Medicos Co. was unusually quiet because of the rain.
Grey clouds covered the city outside while droplets slid down the massive glass windows stretching across the hallway.
Ruhanika and Prachi stopped near one of them. For a moment—neither spoke.
Then Ruhanika casually pulled open her loose braid. And chaos happened. Her long wet silky hair spilled down almost to her knees, dark strands falling around her scrubs beautifully as the cold air hit them.
Prachi blinked once "Bitch "
Ruhanika ignored her and started drying her hair with her fingers while staring outside at the rain "You know what's disgusting?"
"You?"
"Yes. But apart from that "
Prachi sighed tiredly "Bol "
Ruhanika suddenly cursed under her breath instead of speaking
Prachi looked at her suspiciously "Itna kyu bhadki hui hai?"
Ruhanika immediately snatched the hot coffee from Prachi's hand "Tha ek bairi..."
Prachi slowly turned toward her
"Bera ne ajeeb sa hi tha... kimme samaj koni aave ke hogya. Jad te dimag mai ghuman lag rya hai." ( pata nhi ajeb sa hi tha..kuch samaj nhi aa raha jab se dimag mai ghum raha hai )
Then suddenly—her face twisted in horror after tasting the coffee "EWW." She looked personally offended "It's pathetic. WHO puts sugar in coffee?"
The sudden English accent made Prachi roll her eyes instantly "Oh God. I am DONE with your accents."
Ruhanika blinked innocently. And prachi spoke in tiered yet dramatic tone "You are really unpredictable!"
"In what way...darling?"
Prachi looked her up and down dramatically "Obviously hot "
Ruhanika gasped softly "Aww—"
"Shut up." Prachi leaned against the glass window "But seriously... who was your bairi?"
Ruhanika looked away immediately Which itself was suspicious.
Prachi narrowed her eyes "You NEVER talk about any boy like this "
True. Most boys usually feared Ruhanika Rohilla. Mostly because , as Prachi loved hearing from people— "Your bestie is a psycho. She beat us. Instead of flirting back she Ragebate us "
And honestly? Not entirely false. Prachi folded her arms. "Tbh they come running saying your bestie scared us, insulted us, threatened us and all."
Ruhanika looked proud "As they should."
"Toh kya tha uss ladke mai aisa..." Prachi stepped closer dramatically "...jo tu bondal gi?" ( that you have gone mad ? )
Ruhanika opened her mouth and Closed it.
Then groaned aggressively before speaking
"UGH."
Prachi smirked "HAAN BATA "
Ruhanika stared outside at the rain again before muttering quietly—"Brown eyes."
Prachi's grin widened while she continued
"Dimples"
"Achaaaa "
"Long silky sexy hair"
Prachi slapped her own forehead dramatically "GAYI"
Ruhanika pointed aggressively "NO "
"Tu gayi"
"He was irritating"
"Tu gayi."
"Overconfident"
"Tu gayi."
"Annoyingly handsome"
Prachi started laughing loudly and Ruhanika looked offended "Prachi!"
But Prachi was already wheezing "Ruhanika Rohilla... the same woman who rejected literal models..." She dramatically placed a hand over her heart. "...gir gayi ek dimple wale chore ke pyaar mai "
Ruhanika froze. Then whispered in betrayal "Wait..."
Prachi grinned devilishly giving her a look .
"He was Haryanvi too?" Ruhanika said with a spark in her voice
And unfortunately— her silence confirmed everything. Prachi was still laughing when suddenly , her expression changed.
She looked somewhere behind Ruhanika.
Then blinked "...Uske jaisa?"
Ruhanika frowned slightly "Kiske ja—"
But the moment she turned— her soul almost left her body. A man in Black scrubs.
Black overcoat. Long tied hair. Brown eyes.
Rudraksh Rathore.
Walking through the opposite corridor while talking to a few senior doctors. Ruhanika instantly grabbed Prachi's scarf and pulled it over half her face dramatically.
Prachi choked "ABE—"
"YO BAIRI URE KE KRE HAI??" ( what is he doing here ?? ) Ruhanika whisper-yelled in panic.
Unfortunately—too late.
Because Rudraksh had already looked up.
And found her. Again only her dark brown eyes visible behind fabric. Again those impossibly long black hairs flowing around her.
For one silent second—his steps slowed.
Then the corner of his lips lifted slightly showing Dimples. Dangerous dimples.
And unknowingly, beneath his breath—barely audible—unknowingly he hummed softly "Mera chand lukhya hande yaaro... ghungat ki ot mai..."
Ruhanika's eyes widened behind the scarf seeing his smile . Prachi looked between them suspiciously. OH. THIS was the man.
Rudraksh glanced at her one last time before calmly walking ahead with the doctors like nothing happened. Meanwhile— Ruhanika finally exhaled loudly after he disappeared.
Prachi immediately folded her arms "...Why are you hiding?"
Ruhanika looked offended "I'm not hiding "
"You literally stole my scarf " Prachi narrowed her eyes "Kyu?"
Ruhanika groaned "Cause I fought with him..." Then muttered dramatically "...and cursed him."
Prachi stared blankly "You WHAT?"
"He deserved it!"
"Why are you scared then?"
Ruhanika immediately straightened "No way. I am NOT scared." Then pointed randomly somewhere "Just... leave that."
Prachi smirked knowingly "Hmm."
But then genuine confusion crossed Ruhanika's face "Wait." She looked toward the corridor where he disappeared "What is he doing here??" She paused Then with full offended energy glared like a fire "Iske baap ka hospital hai kya?"
Prachi rolled her eyes so hard that she almost saw another dimension "Exactly."
Ruhanika blinked.
Prachi sipped her coffee calmly "Uske baap ka hi hai."
Silence. Complete silence filled them both
Then Ruhanika's sharp voice came "...KYA?"
Prachi looked fully entertained now "Dr. Rudraksh Rathore Rajput." She counted on fingers "Neurosurgeon , Board director , Heir of Rathore Medicos Co. And unfortunately for all female staff..." she sighed dramatically "...walking Pinterest board."
Ruhanika looked traumatised "No."
Prachi nodded sympathetically "Yes."
Ruhanika slowly removed the scarf from her face. "That means...He works here , That means..."
"He owns this place...That means..." Prachi grinned wickedly"You abused your own boss."
Ruhanika stood frozen near the glass window for a full five seconds. Then suddenly grabbed Prachi's arm dramatically "Okay it's fictional."
Prachi blinked.
"I can't breathe!!" Ruhanika said clinging to her drama battery
"Drama queen—" prachi said pushing her with a smile
"I NEED black coffee and foodddd."
Prachi looked personally offended "Oh God. Coffee??" She pointed at Ruhanika accusingly "You are already high on caffeine" Then narrowed her eyes further.
"And for food?? Abhi time bhi nahi hua."
Ruhanika clutched her chest dramatically "Supportive friend my foot "
"No. Go and see your patients and schedule first, Dr. Ruhanika." Prachi started walking backwards toward the elevator "I'm taking my leave before you emotionally dump more nonsense on me."
"Traitor." Ruhanika said
"Mentally unstable woman." Came prachi's voice echoing the floor
"Interior design wali dayan." Ruhanika said flexing her hair , with a proud smile knowing she won the debate
Prachi gasped "WOW." Then grinned
"Still less dramatic than you." And disappeared into the elevator laughing
Ruhanika rolled her eyes before finally walking toward her cabin.
———————-
Her cabin inside Rathore Medicos Co. matched her personality disturbingly well. Dark wood interiors. Warm lamps.
Messy files and Coffee mugs everywhere.
Tiny plants somehow surviving despite her negligence. A heart anatomy model sat beside a stack of novels kept between some anatomy and surgery books . Priorities.
The moment she entered, she dropped into her chair dramatically . Then groaned into the ceiling.
"Chora toh kaate hi gach tha" ( ladka toh ek dam mast tha )
Silence. Then immediately her real self took up as she screamed internally "NO!!"
She stood up aggressively before opening the side wardrobe inside her cabin. A pair of black surgical scrubs hung neatly there.
Ten minutes later—she walked out of the changing area wearing them, hair tied into a loose claw clip while tiny strands escaped around her face. Professional mode. Mostly.
She pressed the intercom and said "Coffee bhejo." Pause "Black." Another pause "And please... WITHOUT sugar. Humanity pe ehsaan hoga"
Outside, her compounder laughed softly "Yes doctor."
A few moments later, her assistant entered with a tablet and files "Good morning, Dr. Ruhanika "
"Hm. Batao"
He adjusted his glasses before reading the schedule"First half mein three OPD consultations."
She nodded while signing papers absentmindedly.
"One minor surgery at 12:30."
"Okay."
"Post-op reviews in the evening."
"Hm."
"And these are pending patient files and reports you need to go through before approval."
A huge stack of files landed on her desk. And Ruhanika stared at them in betrayal.
"...Ye personal dushmani lag rahi hai."
Her compounder tried not to laugh. Then carefully added— "And there's also a board meeting today afternoon."
She looked up slowly "Board."
"Yes doctor."
"WHO all?"
"The directors... senior surgeons..." He checked the tablet once more "...and Dr. Rudraksh Rathore Rajput."
Absolute silence filled the room . Ruhanika closed her eyes slowly. Then whispered to herself—"Bhagwan... transfer karwa do mera." Ruhanika slowly looked up from her desk "Wait."
Her compounder paused.
"You said board meeting?"
"Yes doctor."
"But I'm not even a senior doctor yet."
Before he could answer— another voice entered from the doorway.
"Honestly? Mujhe bhi shock laga." Rajat Malhotra walked inside holding files under his arm. Senior cardiothoracic surgeon.
Three years older than her. Constant victim of her sarcasm.
Ruhanika narrowed her eyes " Tumhe bhi bulaya?"
"Haan."
He sat casually on the chair opposite her "Idk... maybe aapka transfer hoga."
Then "HAAT BAWLI BUCH."
Ruhanika threw a paper ball at him instantly. Rajat dodged dramatically.
"Violence in workplace "
"Main seriously pooch rahi hoon!"
Rajat shrugged "Maybe because you're good?"
Ruhanika blinked suspiciously "That sounded fake "
"It was."
She glared.
Rajat smirked "Waise bhi hospital ko young surgeons bhi toh chahiye board discussions mein."
"Hm."
"But transfer wala possibility interesting hai." Rajat said pointing at her
"Rajat bhai agar tumhe bhai nhi mana hota toh abhi tak mental hospital bej deti "
"Okay sorry. But why are you not expecting transfer ? "
Ruhanika gave him a pouty look and said " I joined recently I am new ...and on top today only I got to know about who the owner is -"
Rajat again gave her a look before speaking " whats the issue then? "
" Maat puche ladle..woh sab chodo tell me !! How can he be like these many things and owner in such a young age ? " Ruhanika's eyes sparked with confusion
" I heard he was always intelligent and on top he is a single child - toh kisi ko toh sambhal na tha itna bada empire " rajat said to her
Right then— her coffee arrived.
Ruhanika immediately took the cup with emotional attachment "Finally Real support."
She took one sip and the Paused. Closed her eyes peacefully "THIS."
Rajat looked disgusted "You drink coffee like an addict "
"I function because of caffeine." She started going through patient files rapidly while sipping coffee beside him.
The room settled into silence. Only pages turning. Keyboard clicking. Rain outside.
Then suddenly— the cabin door burst open.
"Dr. Ruhanika!"
Everyone looked up. A junior doctor stood there breathless "There's an emergency in neuro department!"
Ruhanika immediately stood "What happened?"
"Patient crashed during surgery— cardiac instability. Dr. Rudraksh called for cardiothoracic support."
The coffee cup was already abandoned and her Professional mode activated instantly.
"Vitals?"
"BP dropping. Arrhythmia worsening."
Ruhanika grabbed her hair tie while walking fast "Which OT?"
"Neuro OT-3."
Within seconds—she was running through the corridors of Rathore Medicos Co.. Doctors moved aside immediately. Nurses rushed behind her. The entire neuro floor was in chaos when she arrived.
Monitors were beeping , Voices overlapping.
Tension suffocating the air. While scrubbing in quickly, another surgeon explained the situation beside her
"Forty-eight year old male. Brain aneurysm surgery."
Ruhanika washed her hands swiftly "Complication?"
"Unexpected cardiac instability mid-procedure. Existing coronary artery disease wasn't responding well under stress."
"Current status?" Ruhanika asked
"Severe rhythm disturbance. Pressure crashing."
She looked up sharply "Why wasn't cardiology called earlier?"
The silence answered enough. Ruhanika's jaw tightened. Then she pushed the OT doors open. Cold sterile air hit instantly. Bright lights. Machines. Blood. Tension.
And there— standing at the operating table— was Rudraksh.
Mask was covering half his face. Surgical cap was on. Gloved hands steady. But those brown eyes—she recognised them instantly. Focused. Sharp and Dangerously calm.
For one brief second— their eyes met across the OT. Then professionalism took over immediately.
"Status?" she asked firmly while moving toward the monitors.
"Ventricular instability " Rudraksh replied without looking away from the surgical field
His voice inside the OT sounded different it was Colder and Commanding.
Ruhanika checked the vitals rapidly. The heart rhythm on screen looked disastrous.
And in one corner— the assisting cardiac surgeon stood pale and shaken. Overwhelmed. Ruhanika looked at him once. Then nodded slightly. Not mocking.
Not angry. Just understanding. Because panic inside an OT could kill people.
She stepped forward calmly "Move."
The surgeon obeyed instantly. Ruhanika adjusted the medications quickly while monitoring the rhythm.
"Prepare amiodarone."
"Increase support."
"And Maintain pressure."
Every instruction came sharp and precise.
Then The nurses moved immediately.
Meanwhile Rudraksh continued the neuro procedure flawlessly beside her, his hands impossibly steady despite the crisis unfolding.
The OT slowly began stabilising again. The rhythm improved slightly. Then more.
Pressure rising. Monitors calming. And Breathing normalising. And for the first time in fifteen minutes—the panic inside the room reduced.
Ruhanika finally exhaled softly while watching the vitals settle back toward safe ranges. Stable. Beside her— Rudraksh glanced at her briefly. No smile and No teasing.
Just silent acknowledgement. Doctor to doctor. Warriors inside the same battlefield.
The OT doors finally opened. Ad Ruhanika removed her gloves while walking out, exhaustion hidden perfectly beneath confidence.
One of the junior doctors standing outside looked at her with pure admiration "Damn, Dr. Ruhanika..." He shook his head dramatically "You slayed."
Without even stopping— she continued walking down the corridor with effortless attitude "I always do, darling."
And disappeared before the poor doctor could recover from the aura attack.
Back inside her cabin at Rathore Medicos Co., she tied her hair back up lazily and sat down.
"Vivek."
Her compounder immediately appeared "Yes doctor?"
"Prepare for the 12:30 surgery."
Vivek hesitated before speaking "That one has been taken care of by another doctor."
Ruhanika looked up instantly "Why?"
"Orders from seniors." He adjusted the files awkwardly "They said it was just some stitches... minor case."
A brief silence passed. Then she leaned back slowly "Hm."
No argument and No ego. But Vivek had worked with her long enough to know—
that tiny silence meant she was irritated.
Still, she simply opened the next patient file instead.
"Send the next patient."
A few moments later— the door opened carefully. An old couple entered slowly with a small boy between them.
Around eight years old. He was Thin.
Pale. Yet smiling shyly despite clearly being unwell.
The moment Ruhanika saw the reports as her expression softened slightly. Congenital heart condition. Complicated and Critical enough to need surgery soon.
But somehow— the child still walked and talked normally. Strong little fighter.
The old man removed his pagdi slightly in respect while sitting down nervously "Ram Ram beti."
"Ram Ram...dada "
The old woman held the boy close protectively.
Ruhanika crouched slightly near the child's level "Naam kya hai hero ka?"
The boy smiled softly "Ragveer"
"Achaaa... bada strong naam hai."
He grinned proudly. But the moment she started checking reports again— the grandparents' expressions fell.
The old woman's eyes filled instantly "Isske ma-baap konya beti..." ( iske ma- baap nhi hai beta )
Ruhanika looked up quietly.
"Or mhara bhi iske alawa koi konya." ( or hmare alawa iska bhi koi nhi hai ) The old man's voice trembled slightly despite trying to stay strong. "Paisa ki koi chinta konya..."
( paise ki koi chinta nhi hai ) He folded his hands helplessly. "Bas mhara chora theek kar de beti." ( bas hmara ladka theek kardo beti )
For one second— the cabin became painfully silent. Even Vivek standing outside looked away quietly.
Ruhanika slowly stood up and gently held the old man's folded hands before lowering them. "Haath mat jodo."
Her voice softened completely now "Main poori koshish karungi."
The old woman wiped tears quickly.
"Bach jayega na yo?"
Ruhanika looked toward little Ragveer. He was sitting calmly swinging his tiny legs while staring at the heart model on her desk curiously.
And suddenly— her chest tightened slightly.
Because children like him always hit differently. She walked toward him slowly.
"School jaate ho?"
He nodded proudly "Second class."
"Friends hain?"
"Bohot saare."
"Good." Then she smiled softly and tapped his nose lightly "Toh phir jaldi theek bhi hona padega. Hero jo ho."
The boy giggled.
Meanwhile— behind her smile— Ruhanika's surgeon brain was already calculating every risk possible from the reports. And none of them were easy.
———————-
The top executive floor of Rathore Medicos Co. looked nothing like a hospital. It looked like power. Dark interiors. Glass walls.
Muted lights and Absolute silence.
And right in the center of it—
Rudraksh Rathore sat inside his cabin. Black shirt sleeves folded near his elbows.
Hair tied back neatly again.Reading glasses resting low on his nose as he reviewed documents spread across the massive desk.
Cold. Focused. And Untouchable.
At least usually. Across from him sat the only two people capable of speaking nonsense freely in front of him without fear.
Rohit Choudhary . He was Loud.
Sharp-minded and Business strategist.
And Pratyush Singh— calm, observant, dangerous with numbers.
Both were his closest bestest friends and handled major parts of the Rathore pharmaceutical and medical business chain with him.
Rohit tossed another file onto the table irritably"I'm telling you someone from inside is leaking information."
Pratyush nodded slightly "Drug shipment details got leaked twice this month."
Rudraksh continued reading silently.
Rohit leaned forward "And not just that."
He opened another document "Some shareholder data and confidential research reports were accessed illegally."
Now Rudraksh finally looked up. His eyes instantly sharpened "Source?"
"Still tracing it." Pratyush crossed his arms "But it's definitely internal."
Rohit scoffed "Someone thinks they're smart."
Rudraksh closed the file slowly before speaking "No one steals from Rathores twice."
Simple sentence yet Terrifying tone.
Rohit smirked slightly "There he is."
Pratyush added calmly "We'll tighten internal access and track financial movement first."
Rudraksh nodded once. But then—
his attention drifted. Unconsciously. Long brown hairs . Dark brown eyes behind a helmet .
"...Bawli buch hai aap."
Rohit frowned "...Bhai?"
No response then Pratyush slowly looked up from the tablet "Rudra."
Still nothing. Rohit's eyes widened dramatically "OH MY GOD."
That snapped Rudraksh back instantly "What?"
Rohit looked personally attacked "WHERE did you go?"
"Nowhere."
"Liar."
Pratyush leaned back carefully observing him "You zoned out in middle of discussing data theft."
Rohit placed a hand over his chest dramatically "Data theft chhod... mujhe bata kaunsi chori ho gayi."
Rudraksh looked unimpressed and "Shut up."
But unfortunately— that only confirmed their suspicion further.
Rohit pointed aggressively "THIS."
Pratyush actually looked amused now "Our emotionally unavailable friend is distracted."
"Impossible" Rohit nodded seriously. "Either world is ending..." then narrowed his eyes "...ya ladki."
Rudraksh returned to the files calmly "Meeting khatam ho gayi?"
Rohit gasped loudly "LADKI HI HAI."
Rohit leaned forward over the desk dramatically "Bhai sach bata... naam kya hai uska?"
Rudraksh didn't even look up from the files " Pick your ass and move."
Rohit blinked.
" we have a board meeting."
Pratyush quietly hid his smile behind the tablet , But Rohit looked deeply offended.
"Language....brother Ladki ke chakar mai hume nhi daat sakta "
Rudraksh finally stood from his chair smoothly, fixing the cuff of his black shirt "Out."
Rohit pointed at him accusingly "This attitude only comes when a man is hiding emotions."
"Rohit"
"Theek se bhai , jau hoon" ( thik hai bhai...ja raha hoon )
Pratyush stood calmly beside him "But we are definitely continuing this conversation later."
Rudraksh ignored both completely and walked toward the conference hall.
Unfortunately— his mind betrayed him again. Dark eyes , Rain and "Daat ja bairi."
His lips almost twitched. Almost.
—————-
The executive boardroom of Rathore Medicos Co. looked intimidating enough to scare interns into career changes. Massive black table. Glass walls. Senior doctors already seated and Directors discussing reports quietly.
Rudraksh entered calmly and took his seat at the head side of the table. Professional silence followed instantly. Meanwhile—
somewhere outside the room—chaos was happening. Because Ruhanika Rohilla was late.
She hurried through the hallway while trying to fix her files, phone, ID card and claw clip simultaneously "Perfect. Amazing. Lovely."
The moment she reached the boardroom doors—SNAP.
Her claw clip broke. And Silence. Then betrayal filled her face "My last straw."
Her long silky hair immediately fell freely down her back in messy waves. One nurse passing nearby gasped softly. Ruhanika pointed at the broken clip dramatically.
"This hospital is cursed."
Then without fixing anything further—
she pushed the boardroom doors open amd Every head turned toward her instantly.
And unfortunately—so did Rudraksh's.
For one brief second— his eyes stayed on her open hair. Then slowly shifted to her irritated expression. And a smirk appeared on his face . Very small. Very dangerous.
But his smirk soon turned into a dimple smile and his eyes slowly lowered .
" She looks like Rose , soft delicate and beautiful enough to attract a devil but her thorn like personality and dagger like attitude....Ughh " he said to himself and again looked at her " Perfect..a perfect Little Rose "
Ruhanika saw his smile. And got even more annoyed "Sorry. Emergency case."
One senior doctor nodded politely "No problem doctor, please sit."
She sat down while aggressively pushing her hair behind her shoulder. Across the table—
Rudraksh watched silently. And The meeting started normally. Department reports. Patient statistics and Expansion discussions.
Then as usual— the introductions began for newer board attendees and junior consultants invited into executive discussions.
One by one— everyone introduced themselves.
"Dr. Rajat Malhotra, cardiothoracic surgery."
"Dr. Meera Sharma, oncology."
"Dr. Arvind Kapoor, trauma lead."
Ruhanika quietly opened her file trying her best to ignore a certain pair of brown eyes occasionally landing on her.
Then— "Dr. Ruhanika?"
The room's attention shifted toward her.
She looked up calmly. And directly met Rudraksh's smirking gaze across the table.
Bastard.
She straightened slightly in her chair "Dr. Ruhanika Rohilla." Her Professional tone.
And not so Controlled expression. "Cardiothoracic surgeon."
Then after a tiny pause— "Unfortunately present here against my will." It was supposed to be for her . But her voice betrayed her as it was loud enough and Half the room laughed softly.
And across the table— Rudraksh's smirk deepened.
" Dr. Ruhanika Rohilla....a fire held in rose petals !! Now I also know your name...little Rose " Rudraksh played with the pen in his hand
The board meeting continued as rain tapped softly against the giant glass windows of Rathore Medicos Co.. Files shuffled and Projectors changed slides.
Meanwhile— Ruhanika was losing a battle against her own hair. A strand kept falling over her face every thirty seconds. Irritated, she finally grabbed a pencil lying near the files and twisted her long silky hair upward carelessly before securing it with the pencil itself. Messy and Loose.
And unfortunately for Rudraksh— that single action distracted him more than it should have. His gaze stayed on her for one silent second too long. The black scrubs suited her dangerously well. Her Sharp jawline. Dark expressive eyes.and strands framing her face .
Nothing about her looked delicate. Yet somehow— everything about her was beautiful. Like chaos wearing confidence.
She leaned back slightly while reading one of the reports, absentmindedly biting the cap of her pen while listening.
Rudraksh looked away immediately afterward. Annoyed at himself.
"Neurology expansion plans are approved for sector division" one director announced.
Pratyush, sitting beside Rudraksh now, quietly slid another file forward "We also need discussion regarding pharmaceutical security leaks."
The atmosphere instantly became serious again. Several board members exchanged concerned looks. One senior administrator frowned.
"How severe is the leak?"
Rohit answered this time "Enough to become a legal issue if not controlled immediately."
Ruhanika looked up from her papers "What kind of data exactly?"
Rudraksh finally spoke. "Drug shipment routes , Research access and Internal shareholder information." His Calm tone and Dangerous meaning.
Rajat frowned"That's not small-scale theft."
"No" Rudraksh agreed quietly "It isn't."
Another doctor adjusted his glasses nervously "Any suspects?"
"Internal access confirmed " Pratyush replied.
Silence settled across the room briefly. Then discussions shifted toward tighter protocols and restricted access.
Through all of it— Ruhanika listened carefully, occasionally giving sharp suggestions regarding internal department systems.
One senior surgeon nodded approvingly
"That's actually a good point."
Another added—"We should integrate department-level access tracking too."
Rudraksh glanced toward her again briefly.
She was Smart. Fast and Observant. And irritatingly impossible to ignore.
Meanwhile—Ruhanika was busy pretending she couldn't physically feel his eyes landing on her every few minutes. So naturally—
she got more aggressive.
"Your current system has loopholes" she said bluntly while flipping another page.
One board member looked mildly offended.
"It was designed four years ago."
"Exactly" she replied calmly "Dinosaurs were also alive once."
Rohit instantly coughed to hide laughter.
Pratyush lowered his head pretending to read. And for the first time during the meeting— Rudraksh actually let out a quiet laugh. A real one.
But enough to make half the room stare because apparently Dr. Rudraksh Rathore smiling in meetings was a historical event.
The discussion regarding the leaks continued intensely inside the boardroom of Rathore Medicos Co.. Files spread across the table. Graphs glowing on the projector and Rain still pouring outside.
Pratyush adjusted the presentation calmly "The old shipment routes are safe and trusted."
Several board members nodded in agreement.
"Changing the entire structure suddenly could affect distribution" another director added.
Ruhanika, who had been half-listening while spinning a pen between her fingers, suddenly looked up "No."
The room quieted slightly. She leaned forward in her chair"If a gun is rusted..."
Everyone looked toward her"...it can still be used." With a halt "But there are consequences." Her dark eyes shifted toward the projected data "It won't work when needed "
Then calmly— "Change the routes, Change the plan ...And stop depending on outdated systems just because they worked once."
Rohit slowly blinked "...Damn."
One senior board member frowned thoughtfully "She's not wrong."
Pratyush looked impressed despite himself. "We'd need an entirely new access pattern."
"Good " Ruhanika replied instantly "That makes it harder to predict."
Rudraksh watched her quietly the entire time. Confident. Sharp and Fearless even in front of senior directors.
And annoyingly— every time she spoke, the room listened. The discussion continued for another thirty minutes before finally ending. Chairs moved back. Files closed and Doctors started leaving gradually.
Rajat whispered while walking past her—
"Dinosaurs wali line unnecessary thi."
Ruhanika looked proud with a giggle "No regrets."
Soon the boardroom emptied completely.
Except— Rudraksh And her.
Ruhanika looked toward the door. Then toward him. Then back toward the door again. Afraid that should she apologies ? Did he recognised her ? Suspicious. Rudraksh calmly closed one of the files before finally speaking.
"It's nice to meet you properly, Dr. Ruhanika Rohilla." Professional tone. But those brown eyes said otherwise.
Ruhanika folded her arms lightly "Likewise , Dr. Rudraksh Rathore."
A brief silence settled between them. Rain tapping against glass. And Air conditioning humming softly. Then she turned to leave.
And suddenly— something tugged lightly at her hair. And Ruhanika froze the she Slowly turned.
Rudraksh stood there holding the pencil he had smoothly removed from her hair.
Her long silky brown hair immediately fell freely down her back again.
She glared at him "What was that?"
Rudraksh glanced once at the pencil between his fingers. Then at her. "Pencils are supposed to write " His gaze lowered briefly toward her hair " aur zulfe Leharati hui aachi lagya kare hai "
For one dangerous second— Ruhanika forgot how to blink. Then immediately recovered.
"Flirting in board meetings? Very professional..." after a pause she said " makha daat ja laadle...."
But the slight pink near her ears betrayed her completely. She turned quickly and started walking away again. Then—
behind her— his deep voice came lazily.
"Daat ja...bairan."
She stopped automatically. And internally hated herself for it. Cause know she was maybe caught and recognised . Turning halfway, she saw him walk closer , his hand went towards his messy tied hair , as he pulled a black hair tie from them and ruffled them .
He looked like a fucking greek god , his messy hair strands falling on his face . Beautifully chopped hair falling a little above his shoulder and before casually placing a black hair tie into her hand. Simple and Tiny. Yet somehow intimate.
Before she could even reply— he had already started walking away.
One hand inside his pocket while the other moved through his long hair, loosening a few strands around his face again.
And Ruhanika— for the first time in years—
stood speechless in the middle of an argument .
Ruhanika walked back toward her cabin still holding the black hair tie in her hand. Which itself was irritating. Very irritating.
Because why was she even noticing the fact that it smelled faintly like his cologne?
"Pathetic " she muttered to herself. But instead of throwing it away she slid it into her hand unknowingly .
The moment she opened the cabin door—
"SURPRISE."
She flinched. Prachi and Shreya were sitting dramatically on the couch like unemployed villains.
And between them— sat a huge box of dosa and sambar.
Ruhanika gasped softly "My people."
Shreya Saini their other best friend who is a dentist and the story of how they became a trio ?? The award of breaking someones teeth because he misbehaved goes to none other but Ruhanika. And thats how they became friends .
Shreya pointed proudly toward the food. "Emergency emotional support."
Ruhanika immediately dropped her ipad onto the desk and sat beside them "I love you both "
Prachi narrowed her eyes "You say that every time food arrives."
"Because food is sacred."
Shreya snorted "Doctor sahiba ka true soulmate caffeine aur carbs hain."
Ruhanika opened the dosa box with literal devotion. The warm smell instantly healed half her stress.
"Marry me" she whispered to the dosa.
Prachi looked disgusted "This is why you're single."
"Jealousy."
They started eating while random hospital gossip continued around the room. Shreya worked as one of the top dentists at Rathore Medicos Co.— soft-spoken usually,
but dangerous once comfortable. The exact opposite of Prachi's soft sarcastic yet chaos energy. Which somehow balanced their trio perfectly.
Prachi pointed her spoon toward Ruhanika suddenly "Waise..." then in Dangerous tone.
Ruhanika looked suspicious immediately "What."
"I heard you've started taking shooting classes?"
Shreya blinked "WHAT?"
Ruhanika casually dipped dosa into sambar "Yes."
Silence filled the room . As Prachi slowly placed her spoon down. Then looked at Shreya with full seriousness.
"I'm telling you..." She pointed dramatically toward Ruhanika. "...ye ladki normal nahi hai."
Ruhanika continued eating peacefully while Prachi started counting aggressively on fingers.
"Boxing?"
"Bike riding?"
"Horse riding?"
"Sports cars?"
"Gym?"
"Dance?"
"Singing?"
"Cooking?"
"Painting?"
Then she looked genuinely exhausted.
"Bhen..." Pause "Tu chalti phirti hobby ki dukaan kyu nahi ban jaati?"
Shreya immediately started laughing and said what do we say in Haryanvi ?? " kaate hi chala paad rhi hai " ( aafat macha rakhi hai )
Ruhanika looked proud instead "Talented people scare you both "
"No" Prachi corrected instantly "Psychopaths scare does "
"Same thing."
Shreya shook her head smiling "Honestly though... when do you even get time?"
Ruhanika shrugged casually " Even I don't know...but yes , when i am not working i am sleeping and when i am not sleeping i follow my hobbies "
Prachi pointed at her again "THIS."
"This is exactly why one day you'll accidentally join NASA also."
Ruhanika thought for a second"...That actually sounds cool."
Prachi screamed in frustration "BHAGWAAAN."
Shreya laughed harder while Ruhanika happily stole her extra dosa like a criminal.
And for a little while— between coffee cups,
rain outside, and stupid conversations—everything felt normal again. Until unfortunately— brown eyes appeared in her head again.
And she immediately attacked the dosa aggressively out of irritation.
Evening had wrapped Chandigarh in soft rain and golden streetlights by the time Ruhanika finally left Rathore Medicos Co..
Exhausted and Mentally attacked.
And still emotionally offended by one neurosurgeon's existence.
She walked through the hospital corridor while fixing the strap of her bag on her shoulder, her long hair open again because apparently every hair accessory in her life had betrayed her today.
"Home. Food. Sleep." she muttered.
Turning near the executive wing corner—
THUD.
Straight into someone's chest. Again.
Ruhanika closed her eyes instantly "No."
A familiar deep voice came from above her "Yes."
She looked up slowly and found Rudraksh.
No masks this time. No helmets and No rain hiding them.
Just him standing there in black shirt and rolled sleeves, holding a few files in one hand while the other rested casually inside his pocket.
A few loose strands had escaped his face from his pushed behind open hairs .
And unfortunately— those stupid dimples appeared the moment he saw her expression.
Ruhanika stepped back immediately "Aap har jagah tapak kaise jaate ho?"
Rudraksh tilted his head slightly "Aap itna takrati kyun hai ?"
Her eyes narrowed "Aap itna beech mein kyun aate ho?"
A tiny laugh escaped him. Low. Warm and Dangerous.
Then he stepped a little closer lazily "Maybe I love to play with fire...and love to get in Bush of Roses"
Ruhanika stared blankly for two seconds " Rose have thorns "
Rudraksh smiled before speaking " So do you...Little Rose "
" what..what did you call me ?? " she asked shuttering
He smirked and replied " Nothing..."
She pointed at him dramatically
"See? THIS.....This is why I called you bawli buch."
His brows lifted slightly "Only that?"
"Abhi mood hua toh aur bhi bol dungi."
" I am your boss..." he said bitting his lips trying to avoid his smile
" Oh fuckk...sorry Mr. Boss " she said knowing that his words hit the exact spot , that she needed to control her tongue
Rudraksh looked entirely too amused for a man who was technically being insulted.
Doctors crossed the hallway around them occasionally, secretly staring because apparently seeing Dr. Rudraksh casually talking to someone without looking emotionally constipated was shocking enough.
Ruhanika noticed the looks immediately.
And got awkward. Which annoyed her further.
"People are staring."
"Hm."
"You don't care?"
"No."
"Psychopath."
"Coming from you, that sounds romantic."
Silence a Complete silence.
Ruhanika blinked once. Twice. Then looked personally offended. "Excuse me?!"
For the first time properly— Rudraksh laughed. His Dimples visible and Brown eyes softer.
And somehow— that looked even more dangerous than his silence.
Ruhanika immediately looked away before her brain betrayed her again.
"Anyways" she muttered while starting to walk backward "main jaa rahi hoon."
But before she could leave— Rudraksh spoke again
"Dr. Ruhanika."
She stopped reluctantly "Hm?"
His gaze stayed on her for one quiet second before he said— "Drive carefully this time."
Simple sentence. But softer than before.
And annoyingly— it made her heartbeat stutter for absolutely no reason.

Instead of turning toward home— Ruhanika changed directions halfway. Straight toward the private shooting club on the outskirts of Chandigarh.
Because clearly— violence felt healthier than emotions . Rain had slowed into a soft drizzle by the time she entered the dim indoor range. Black hoodie over her scrubs.
Hair tied messily now and Jaw tight with irritation.
The instructor looked up from the counter.
"Evening, doctor."
"Need a lane."
"Rough day?"
Ruhanika loaded the magazine aggressively.
"Existential crisis."
The instructor decided not to ask further.
A few minutes later— BANG.
The bullet hit dead center. Again. BANG.
Another perfect shot.
Her breathing stayed controlled as she aimed at the target repeatedly, the loud echoes filling the empty range.
But unfortunately— instead of focusing—
her brain kept replaying stupid things.
Brown eyes. Dimples.
"I love to play with fire..."
BANG. She hit the target harder.
"Annoying man."
BANG. That laugh in the corridor. BANG.
"UGH."
She lowered the gun finally and pushed her wet hair back aggressively.
"What is WRONG with me?"
The range stayed silent except for her breathing. Ruhanika stared at the riddled target for a long moment before muttering softly to herself—
"Maat kare laadle..." Her expression dimmed slightly beneath the sarcasm.
"...hum toh pehle hi tabah hain." Then she loaded another round slowly.
"Tu bhi hojyega."
